Objectivos

It is intended that when the students start their research practices, based on the proposed thesis topic in which they intend to work, they need to identify the scientific field in which they will investigate so that they can begin to write their research proposal. However, in order to write a good research project they need to be prepared.

2nd session: 28 September, 2017 (quinta-feira/thursday)
Profs. Pedro Raposo & Daniel Carolo: Self-introduction by students (who am I, why DS; what do I want to investigate, research motivations, career aspirations, etc.).
-3rd session: 6 October, 2017 (sexta-feira/friday)
Profs. Pedro Raposo & Daniel Carolo e Sofia Bento: This session is dedicated on the reflection of the following questions: What is a good research project for a PhD thesis? How to find a good research question? How to write a literature review? Esta sessão contará também com a presença da Dra. Sofia Bento que virá apresentar aos estudantes um novo software de apoio à elaboração das teses de doutoramento.
-4th session: 12 October, 2017 (quinta-feira / thursday)
Profs. João Peixoto and Ana Moutinho: This session is dedicated to understand three major questions: How is scientific research carried out at ISEG: the CSG? what is the relationship of the ISEG research centers with the Foundation of Science and Technology (FCT)? In addition, how can PhD students interact with existent research centers in terms of understanding their operational aspects, for example if they wish to begin collaborating with ISEG research centers?
-5th session: 19 October, 2017 (quinta-feira/thursday)
Dr. Duarte Meirelles: This session provides PhD students orientation and information about the ISEG library and database.
-6th session: 26 October, 2017 (quinta-feira/thursday)
Prof. Vitor Escária: This session discusses the method of scientific writing, in particularly how to write a thesis.

Metodologia de avaliação

1. Motivation for the research that intend to perform;
2. Objectives of the research with the questions and goals of the research.
3. Elaboration of a literature review (3000 words) with the main reference works on your research topic. It implies a list of the main works / articles or other bibliography (authors) that motivate or support my work);
4. Refer to the main methodological aspects.
