Objectivos

1. To become familiar with the range of frameworks, tools and principles that can be applied across a range of countries, markets and sectors
2. To develop skills in using a variety of analytical frameworks for making decisions in an international business environment
3. To develop skills in planning and risk management, ranging from the development of strategies for penetrating new emerging markets to the management of risks stemming from changes in key macroeconomic variables and market failures

? Key principles of macroeconomics and international economics
? Analyzing the volatility of emerging markets
? Quantitative methods for identifying new frontier markets
? Identifying main cost of entering emerging markets and developing strategies to mitigate such risks
? Internal organization of exporting firms and multinationals
? Protection of intellectual property in emerging markets
? Drivers of corruption across countries and strategies for minimizing corruption risk

Metodologia de avaliação

The course is highly interactive between the class and the instructor. Through case studies/presentations, and problem solving, students will have the opportunity to use the concepts, ideas, and strategies presented in class. The final grade is obtained by combining the Continuous Assessment (60%) and the result of an written exam (40%).
