Objectivos

- Understand what is Sustainability Science (SSc); an emerging science at the interface of the exact sciences, social sciences and humanities applying, multi, inter and transdisciplinary approaches;
- Get acquainted to a scientific field that has evolved from environmental sciences integrating both natural and social perspectives;
- Acquire skills to use SSc, developing, managing and evaluating research projects oriented;
-To build a vision about organizations and their management/business and economy according to sustainability;
- Recognize the main environmental, social, governance and economic challenges linked to global and local business practices;
- Learn that corporate "social responsibility" and "shared value" are social innovations relevant to sustainable development;
- Acquire skills to establish strategies and sustainability assessments that integrate traditional and innovative management approaches to respond to planetary and social boundaries.

Programa

1. Discuss key literature in the field of the SSc and sustainability.
2. Strong and weak sustainability, planetary and social bounderies, natural capital; sustainable development and degrowth; business externalities, circular economy and dematerialization.
3. Corporate social responsibility and shared value.
4. International guidelines and regulations on energy efficiency and climate change.
5. Tools related to materiality assessment and stakeholder engagement; sustainable business models; green value chain management and sustainable consumption; environmental and social life cycle assessment; environmental and social management; ecosystem services and biodiversity; sustainability reporting; sustainable assessment and investments.
6. Expert presentations on key issues in SSc: environmental ethics, ecological economics, political ecology, ecosystem services and engineering approaches to sustainability, such as industrial symbiosis and life cycle analysis.
