The New Asian Economic Order (NAEO): Institutions, Actors and Development Policies (1 º Sem 2020/2021)

Objectives
This curricular unit will aim at debating and reflecting on the origins and evolution of the economic, political and social changes and dynamics in the Asia-Pacific region, the main economic global center in the coming decades. Thus, it will analyze in critical and transversal ways five main issues at the core of the emergence of this a New Asian Economic Order (NAEO): growth, trade, industrialization, finance and globalization. Historically, it will focus on the period after the Second World War, i.e., after 1945 and geographically on the developmental experiences of Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, China and ASEAN (Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and Brunei).
